This was taken in Victory VT, during June with the XT-2 and Rokinon 12mm. My son competes in downhill mountain biking and Burke Mountain was one of the more secluded locations, great for astrophotography. I struggled with post processing for a while, but finally came up with something. This was processed with Iridient. F/2.0, 30 secs. 1600. Nevermind the Moose that was trying to intimidate me. Hope you like it.

Excellent! I just got that same lens and hope to figure out how to use it for astrophotography. Inspiring! Thanks!

Thanks. I’ll post a picture of the moose tonight. I could hear footsteps walking down the gravel road I was on and then later, splashing in the river. I didn’t realize it was a moose until I looked at the images and brought out the shadows. It was the first shot of the morning, 2-4am, when I was checking focus. I took all the images from the moon roof of my car, because I wasn’t sure if it was a bear or serial killer, lol!

Yikes - I would have been terrified! Thanks for the reply and I look forward to seeing the photo of the moose - better than either a bear or a serial killer I suppose!

It’s a great lens for Astro. I had the Zeiss 12mm and loved it for everything but Astro. I use this focal length for 90% night shooting so I don’t miss the auto or speed of the Zeiss. I find focus, f2.0, 20/30 secs., ISO 1600/3200 and snap away with the cable release.

If you look at the bottom right of the image, under the sign, you can see the moose.

Two very nicely taken shots Pete, I would of run a mile if the moose had been near me.

Thanks for sharing Pete - I would also have been out of there in a flash if that moose had been around!
