Wrong Again! I never suggested that you "consider other lenses instead". Fake News!
It's your $$$, do whatever you wish.

Oh yes, now I see: You were the guy who insinuated I was unfit to use a screwdriver. Sorry about confusing you!
And of course I‘ll do what I wish.

Wrong Once More! I didn't insinuate anything! You must be suffering from some sort of snowflake-itis! Don't go away mad........ just Go Away!

I broke the bayonet on my 50-230, and the Fuji fixed cost repair was more than I had paid for the lens second hand a year before. I put the lens on eBay as broken, and got half my money back. Much later.... I bought a XF 90 f2 which is so good, that I now use that and crop to get the equivalent angle of capture to a 200mm lens and it out performs my (Zeiss) 200mm prime!

I'm going to rationalise my lens collection soon as I now have Fuji XF lenses at 16, 27, 35, and 90 - that really covers most things I need.

So in case anyone's interested and makes it to the end of this unfortunate thread, I heard back from Fuji and, against all odds, a repair makes sense:
    € 92,99
    including
renewed 1 year warranty on the lens
    VAT and return postage
    Who would have thought it!:)

Roughly equivalent to the £90 I was quoted for a fixed price repair by Fujifilm UK

These things can sometimes be a nice surprise, not that often though.
