This looks to me - like a photograph of a Dolmen in County Clare. It sits on the edge of the Burren. It is named Poulnabrone which is the anglicization of its name in Irish language "Poll na mBrón meaning "hole of sorrow"

Poulnabrone is classified as a portal tomb. Excavations in the 1980’s revealed the remains of 21 people in the main tomb chamber and radiocarbon dating of their bones indicates that the tomb was in continual use for a period of 600 years between 5,200 and 5,800 years ago.

    Its pretty old!!!

This is a more recent photo of the Dolmen.

Thanks for the info. I thought is was in or around the edge of the Burren. I stayed fairly close to the west coast during my three weeks there. Beautiful country and people. Thanks again.

Treading a fine line...dozens struggle up Uluru/Ayers Rock in 1997 in defiance of local wishes (such ascents to be banned from October 2019). An awe-inspiring place which exudes mystery. Minolta SLR using Kodachrome slide film with 300mm lens @ 300mm.

Love that. I did the climb, my excuse being, well, you know, I'll probably never be here again. Now I'm living in Australia.

I took one look at the steep smooth slope and convinced myself that every one of those “ants” was most certainly a youthful fit 21 year-old. Two Japanese tourists around my age had died from heart attacks up there the previous day, so the appeals of the native Australians at the foot of the path became pretty persuasive as well. I’ve been up effortlessly many times since - on Google Earth! - which is incredibly detailed even with the views over to the Olgas.

This morning. Fuji X-E1, ISO 400, 1/500 sec. XF14 at f/8 with graduated ND filter.
Cropped a fair amount. I could have used a longer focal length but the 14mm was on the camera when the ravens came over.

That's a thought provoking scene, I like your title for it. What happened there?

This photo was taken inside a church in Germany, in a city called Lübeck. Those bells fell down and crashed after a bomb was thrown there during the the second world war time. New bells were donated to the church and those remained there. You can read about it here: Please login or register to view links
PS. This church deserves a visit, lots of interesting things to see and photograph.
