been looking for an outdoor night location that has consistent background lights that aren't too 'busy' and would fit head shots and head/shoulder shots. this place is at a waterfront and the lights are always a consistent orange colour ; never multi coloured.

    interested in overall impressions...
    - what do you think of the bokeh here in terms of shape, colour and compatibility with skin tones ?
    - background : this shot used a 4.5 aperture and an ISO of 200 plus a speed light. the harbour lights are about 300 meters behind the subject. for a formal shot we'd be using an umbrella or small soft box but it would have no effect on the background and little effect on skin tones

You do not say which lens used. Probably does not make a difference since you are scouting locations. For me, the bokeh is a little distracting due to the fact it is evenly spaced and horizontal with her cheeks. The single camera mounted flash is OK fo rthe purpose.

The out-of-focus highlights are a bit too sharp and contrast. That makes them distracting. Could try blurring them a bit more
