    Really like them both. I cant remember seeing a Great Blue wading that deep in the water. Quite unusual from what I have seen.

    It's a Grey Heron (European - I'm in the UK) but neither have I. I mentioned it to one of the wardens who said they had seen Grey Herons get out of their depth and actually swim!!

    Nice images is this Little Britain?same as the Mandarin Pics? That's sort of local to me (I live in Feltham t'other side of the airport) May have a trip over at the weekend

    Good shots. Especially like the heron.
    Like you and others have said, it is wading very deep in the water.

    Fantastic accuracy of focus in the heron shot - creates a spectacularly narrow depth of field in exactly the right plane across the image.

    No, these were shot at Barnes WWT (London Wetland Centre) 20 minutes along the M4/A4. It's a regular haunt for me, we are members and they have a great coffee shop with cake... Everybody needs cake!!

    Thanks. I brought the focus point down to a minimum, had it on AF-S, and used the joystick to move the focus point over the eye. Only sharpening was the standard Lightroom output.
