Big Route 66 Festival in my hometown this weekend. Some say Route 66 was born here. Downtown was PACKED with hundreds of classic, custom and outrageous cars. More can be seen if you follow the link.

These were all taken with my new (used) XC 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 OIS II. I've been using the XF 18-55 f2.8-4.0 and love it - but I was curious to see if the slightly wider view and lighter weight might work to my advantage. So far, I have no complaints!

It's a decent lens, and you've made good use of it. It had to be quite wide to include some of those beer guts . . .

Great set. Love those Rodz, they're becoming popular here in UK now. Its always difficult to get good shots at these type of events.

Nice punchy punchy colors, nice diffused light (overcast?) and I never get tired of looking at "classic" cars.
And .... dashboards & interiors are evry bit as interesting as the body styles.

Funny. I really should have done more crowd shots - like the guy with the pet rat - but I'm not very comfortable aiming the camera at prople in tight quarters unless I've had a beer or two myself.

Yes, overcast skies, which can be great for color and keeping the reflections down.
There was a bigger crowd than I've seen in a long time, and no amount of waiting was likely to allow a clean shot. Pink sweat pants next to a red car ...
